Choose where your writing lives

Use File > Open Notes Folder for an existing folder. You can inspect the same files in Finder, copy them to a backup, or open them with another Markdown app.

Local folders and external sync

The app provides no cloud sync service. An external synced folder follows its provider’s behavior. Locked notes use an encrypted format rather than ordinary Markdown.

Free writing stays available

MarkThatDown has no free note limit. Optional Pro access is available monthly, annually, or through a one-time lifetime purchase. Apple shows your local price and eligible offers before purchase.
