Make each step an action

Many renderers continue numbering automatically. The initial number establishes the start, so check lists intended to begin above one.

1. Open the folder.
2. Write the note.
3. Review the PDF.

Avoid an accidental list

A number followed by a period can start a list at a paragraph boundary. Escape the period when the line should remain plain text.
