Keep substeps under their parent

Indent a nested list under the content of its parent item. Four spaces are a readable starting convention for ordinary bullet lists.

Keep the hierarchy visible

Use nesting when the child items belong to the parent. Do not create extra levels merely to shorten a sentence.

- Prepare the draft
    - Write the opening
    - Check the links
- Share the draft

When the sublist becomes code

Indentation depends on the parent marker and content column. Check your receiving renderer if a deeply indented sublist turns into an indented code block.
